Playing hockey and/or being a gymnast ought to be a requirement for occupying every last governmental seat in Washington D.C.
The first question out of our mouths when we hear that someone is running for office should be 'Which hockey team did you play for? No hockey? Well then how did you do in gymnastics?'
It's supposed to be all about CHECKING AND BALANCING folks.
If you don't know the meaning of the words, talk to some hockey players and gymnasts and figure out what's expected and how it's done, then extrapolate.
If you don't know what the word 'extrapolate' means, look it up. In a dictionary.
Then read the Constitution of the United States of America. No. Then STUDY
the Constitution of the United States of America.
Then require your candidates to play hockey and perform on a balance beam to see how well they do.
Then THINK about what you've just seen.
THEN cast your vote.
You know, if we start having real expectations for our candidates and they know they have to actually prove that they know how our government is really supposed to work before they even run for office, we might maybe get somewhere.
How about media start questioning the candidates on the Constitution for a change of pace? It would be a much needed education for all of us. And I'm not just talking about being able to quote the document but being able to tell us about its origins, meanings, and pertinence.
Yeah, like that's gonna happen.
We better stick to electing hockey players and gymnasts. They at least have grasped the basic concepts of what government is designed for.
The BASICS, people.
The bottom line is that it really is all about balance. Without it, falling on our faces is to be expected.
