MAMM BOOKS TRAILER from 2014

 FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS, FREEDOM, FUTURE

I've let myself become derailed for much too long -
it's time for me to get back on track with the series
THEY ARE MY SONG.

The Mamm Books

Danann

The Youngling Books

The RICIMER Books

The Alianora Books

F Words (Faith, Family, Friends, Freedom, Future)

NEXT UP:

The Sass Books (600-1100 AD)

The Caileen Books (1100-1600 AD)

The Aine Books - The Americans (1600-1900 AD)

(LOL, the baby of the family has a head start with a couple of her books already done; as the family expands every which way from Tuesday, we'll have to switch to short stories)

The Young Ones (short stories covering whenever and wherever they want to go - this batch is COMPLETELY UNCONTROLLABLE)

Getting back into RICIMER mode ... BUT MEANWHILE ...

Let it be a challenge to me.

We left him at age 12 with almost the whole of his very active life ahead of him.

He's got places to go, things to do, people to see.

Protege of Aetius, along with Majorian and Aegidius, Ricimer's Destiny is not going to be an easy one.

In between us abandoning Ricimer in the days of his youth, Our Characters have taken the bit in their collective teeth and skipped ahead to when they journey to America in the year 1600. Two of the AINE Books are written and in print (and on Kindle). Then we skip ahead yet again to meet the lot of them in the 1800s - in America's Wild West. That they bring their own Wild Ways with them is a given since the Young Ones show up (Colum, Saorsa, Marra, and Mamm the Younger). IF you've met them already, you don't need to wonder that the American West might be just about to get a little more wild than it already was.
This is the painting I used for the cover of the 'Go West!' book that has Our Characters moving from western Kansas into eastern Colorado, and then preparing for their next western move - to the Colorado Rockies.

So ... it's going to be a toss-up between RICIMER and these Characters of the American West (along with finishing the rest of the AINE Books) as to which will manage to get done in what order.

Stay tuned.

RICIMER is not necessarily patient ...

On the other hand, we're making progress.

It should come as a shock to nobody that the life of this one man is not going to permit itself to be told in a single book.

Rather than argue the point or write a massive missive we're back to splitting a single Story into segments.

The first one:

RICIMER
The Tears of Anna
(I)

ought to be ready for print very soon.

It's got some background and Ricimer's Youngling years. At the end is more
'background' that you may or may not be interested in.  Gauge it for yourself, my friend.

History has judged Ricimer - we have a bit of a different perspective of history from our own time, so we'll make our own calls regarding this man who seemingly changed the course of History all by himself.

Of course he did no such thing - the 'all by himself' part of it at least. That he contributed enormously to setting (advancing) a course is without a doubt true. That he did it alone ... not true, as nobody has ever had that sort of power.

One thing after another after another has interrupted both the research and the writing of RICIMER. I cannot and will not blame anyone, least of all the Character Ricimer, for becoming impatient. The set of RICIMER books are a work in progress, but this one at least can be an introduction.

The Ricimer Character does not spring into existence out of a void, as Ricimer the Historic Person did not. We come into his story already biased in his favor because he's kin to our fictional family.

*laughing*

So is his brother Rechiar, but while we like the heck out of Ricimer we do NOT feel the same about Rechiar. So it's not just the family connection ...

At any rate, being the grandson of our own Wally of the West (Mamm of Dunnottar's younger brother), Ricimer belongs in our Story.

RICIMER of the Series They Are My Song (and a bit about Justice, Mercy, and Peace)

RICIMER is 'on hold' for the time being for a couple of reasons.

One is that right now I need to be prepping for some art-related stuff that's on my horizon and that's going to be taking all of my available time and energy for a while here.

The other, perhaps more significant, reason is that my instinctively-pattern-seeking brain is trying to cope with a pattern that I darned well should have anticipated and been prepared for - but I honestly wasn't expecting things to accelerate the way they have just recently.

The pattern?

It's sort of a double-or-triple pattern. Quadruple maybe even, or more for all I know - although it's the same pattern repeating ...

We'll go back only as far as the Roman Empire - set out to conquer Europe and did all right with that, relatively speaking, right up until it got too big for its britches so to speak and disrupted the Balance. Down went the Western Roman Empire and up rose the new Nations of Europe, forged of their own wills and by the sheer strength and determination of their respective Peoples finding their Balance.

Then it was the Church of Rome. Again, did all right, relatively speaking, right up until it got too big for its britches, so to speak and disrupted the Balance. The Church of Rome sank in power and up rose the Protestant Denominations as the Peoples and the Nations of Europe were finding their Balance.

Now it's the EU apparently getting too big for its britches, so to speak and disrupting the Balance.

When will the lesson finally be learnt?

The Peoples of Europe will only stand for so much before they unequivocally say, "NO MORE!"

What with one thing and another, the time of RICIMER bears an eerie resemblance to the time of Now.

I already know how the RICIMER story ends so have been watching the current version play out, that eerie sensation kind of haunting the whole thing.

That yet another version of the same pattern has been playing itself out in the United States only adds to that haunting sense of familiarity ...

It's become notably uncomfortable, writing a Story [that's supposed to be fiction based really loosely on historic times] while the danged Story Line is happening in Real Time in front of my face. So I'm taking all the energy I would normally be putting into writing out the RICIMER Story and using it instead to pray that the path to the end of this repetition of the pattern will be one of Peaceful Balance.

The reason I have Hope for that is a little on the mystic side.

Our Fictional Family has a Destiny that includes enforcing the Will of the Holy Trinity, which has a pattern of its own:

Justice
Mercy
Peace

In that order.

Justice was served when the Western Roman Empire went down.
Mercy was served when the Protestants did not utterly destroy the Church of Rome.
So it's time for Peace to have a turn I reckon.

Yes I realize that already things are a bit less than altogether Peaceful - but nor are they what could become.

And no, I'm not talking about that utopian magical world peace everyone lives happily ever after thing. That's not going to happen, sorry. At least not yet, not now, and likely not any time in the foreseeable future.

But a relatively Peaceful and Balanced resolution can and will be found if people put their minds and their wills to it. If you've been paying attention, you might realize that there are people who are putting their minds and their wills to it already, so yes there IS Hope that a Peaceful Balance will be possible, relatively speaking.

*wry chuckle*

Went looking for a symbol for Hope and Balance.

Guess what showed up.
Yeah, there are others, but this one sort of jumped out of the bunch as it's pretty darned familiar.

And this one of course, also quite very familiar:

Corrections and Updates

For the moment at least, and hopefully for all time, the updates and corrections to the Mamm Books and DANANN are as complete as I'm going to get them.

Thankfully HELL AND HIGH WATER has relatively independent story lines (WHEW) and I'm not going to fret about them right now.

As for why I've fretted about getting these fine-edited right now, it's because I read them all over again in preparation for the writing of RICIMER and found a couple of things that I wanted fixed.

So I fixed them.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the new files submitted for print, and the Kindle editions will be fixed at the same time. None of the Story Lines changed, mind you - just a touch-up here and there.

When they're all ready I'll post links.

THEY ARE MY SONG SERIES TO DATE WITH LINKS TO ORDER

The Younglings of Dunnottar take the lead here, as they tend to do, because we cannot say them nay!
Here are their introductory books ... enjoy!!

Here is the updated version of THEY ARE MY SONG THE SERIES. As our fictional family makes its way through the generations they take us with them. And what a journey it is! As they struggle to Protect and Preserve their Legacy, their Destinies unfold ...

This the first of the Mamm Books is also the set's conclusion.
Not intended to become a book in the first place,
They Are My Song has nevertheless come to represent the Center Circle for the other Mamm Books.
They are irrevocably linked to one another and just as irrevocably linked to SONG.

It is in Mamm of Perth that the healing of our fictional family begins.
As the Voice of Mamm of Dunnottar begins the generational tales associated with an heirloom,
the south hearth of the roundhouse of Dunnottar become a focal point.
We listen in as the tragedies and triumphs of this family are related by the matriarch of the family.
In the second story line, we attend as this family goes about doing what it does.

It is in Mamm of Tarnos that we get our first clear indication that not ALL of the Main Characters of SONG
are necessarily going to be human.
The horses Ordha and Rogue have minds of their own, no two ways about it.
When MammTwo and Ullin stop at Tarnos (in previous book) it is the unruly Rogue and the powerful Ordha
who keep them there while MammTwo and Ethan of Tarnos fight it out.
In Mamm of Tarnos, the pairs (human and horse) establish the beginnings of a powerful branch of the family.
Meanwhile, on Dunnottar, events are unfolding as the healing of that generation continues.

LittleMamm is the daughter of MammTwo and Ethan of Tarnos.
This Powerful little girl brings us what is perhaps the most mystical of the Mamm Books.
As she and her mate David of Chattan grow to adulthood they must battle a Call,
one that will ultimately win, as it is their Destiny
to go to the Far Western Lands.
But first ... they have a family to produce - one that is of vital importance
to the future.
And on Dunnottar?
The Story Mamm tells is coming full circle.

As Mamm of Dunnottar reaches the time to tell her own Story, we and our fictional family wonder -
will she be able to tell this part of the tale?
Mamm of Dunnottar is the longest, and perhaps the hardest of the Mamm Books to write
and to read.
Mamm and her husband Alaric of the Visigoth Getae have Choices to make
and so they do.
Back on Dunnottar, in the other story line, events are still unfolding
as the family grows to include another generation.
Mamm of Dunnottar might make you cry.
It will almost surely make you laugh.
The Mamms thank you.

DANANN carries us into a future where Earth is at peace - or is she? A malignant 'something' is taking root.
Have Danann and Sidhelagh returned in time to help the Peoples of Earth?
Family to family
Friend to friend
Free to the free
Faithful to the faithful
From future to future
Foe to foe
Until the end of eternity

My oath on it.

ORDER HERE

As the writing of HELL AND HIGH WATER began I found myself constantly
researching an even more ancient past than I had considered to be relevant
to the book series I was in the middle of getting written, yet there I was -
in a past so ancient I could barely wrap my head around it.
A friend had urged me to include 'science fiction' in my work,
but what has 'science' to do with such ancient times?

Enter Mamm of Phi.
Oh.

The HELL AND HIGH WATER set is the Alianora Books of SONG.

The HELL AND HIGH WATER books of SONG take us into a far distant past.
As DANANN carried us into the future, so Alianora and Drustann
carry us to an even more unexpected time.
They are searching for the truth of the Faith that is so important to them.
The find it has deeper roots than they thought.
Stranded in the ancient past they
find what they seek.
And they bring it home with them.

As the research and the writing of HELL AND HIGH WATER progressed
the two story lines at first seemed unrelated.
What could the Extinction Level Event (ELE) of the far-away past
possibly have to do with the AD 500s?

The Younglings of Dunnottar are, in HELL AND HIGH WATER, now the Elders
of the family and are scattered all over the place.
Rua and Dothann are in Branxton of Britannia.
Brann and his wife Andras are in Cornwall.
Diann and Corrbed are on the Continent.
Merri rides and fights with the Fienne.
Their younger cousins, The Young Ones, are coming of age
with the help of Dedan and Saba.

ORDER HERE

As our fictional family expands, so do the adventures our Characters get themselves into.
In between living out their respective Destinies, they must look to the future
and plan accordingly for a time that they know will come.
As Ullin of Iona says:
The wheel goes 'round and 'round ...

The Realms and Dimensions of Earth must unite for one final showdown
against something so Powerful nobody is sure they can defeat it.
Just when everyone is breathing again
comes another assault.
And another.

And here we have an introduction to many Short Stories to come!
Faith, Family, Friends, Freedom, and the Future

Thank you for helping the Younglings of Dunnottar (current batch) meet their goal of helping others.
100% of on-line royalties go to them to donate to a charity of their choice!

THEY ARE MY SONG BOOK ONE OF THE SERIES

MAMM OF PERTH

MAMM OF TARNOS

LITTLEMAMM OF IONA

LittleMamm of Iona and David of Chattan have more Power than they know what to do with. They also have a Destiny to follow and Younglings to produce who will change the course of history.

MAMM OF DUNNOTTAR

DANANN

DANANN takes us far into the future ... as the lineage of this family copes with an unexpected and unusual kind of attack. He and Sidhelagh return from their three thousand year Atonement in the nick of time as our old buddy Aduan is up to his old tricks.

COME HELL AND HIGH WATER PART ONE

COME HELL AND HIGH WATER PART TWO A

Alianora : How To Break A Choke Hold From Behind

The peacock is one of Alianora's symbols. No it doesn't have anything to do with breaking a choke hold, at least not that I know of (yet) but it does have something to do with our Alia. And it's a pretty picture, yep.

Yeah, it gets a little strange, the things a person has to research in the course of writing a book that's supposed to be about Keeping the Faith.

Regardless of how strange it may seem, it's something we have to know something about. OPSGEAR® TACTICAL TIP: Two Ways to Break a Chokehold from Behind gives us a quick little lesson HERE

Watching the video (it's short) will show you better than I can explain it. Basically you turn your head into the crook of the elbow of the arm that's around your neck from behind (to hopefully let you draw breath) reach up and grab the arm to loosen the hold while you twist out of it to gain yourself some space.

Ironically, this just happens to be something I would have been grateful to have known once upon a time. In my case I think I flat lucked out by going limp and the guy loosened his hold to let me drop; I caught a breath and ran. That whole thing is a story I'm not ready to tell yet, but this video reminded me of it.

At any rate, this is one example of how handy researching stuff can be.

HERE's a link and below is a photo from a Marine training thing:

I figure if you want to know something you may as well go looking for someone you're pretty sure will be able to tell you. It's amazing what all you can find on line if you go looking!

Now that we know how Alianora gets herself out of it, maybe we ought to see if we can find out how she gets into it in the first place.

Waiting For Book Orders To Get Here!

I recently noticed that I only have copies of a few of my own books and thought What The Heck is up with THAT? Some of the most recent ones I've never even laid eyes on 'in person' so to speak; others I've had in my hands only for a moment before they've jumped ship into other hands than mine. Not a bad thing, that - but ...

Granted I can easily enough just open their original files and read them any time I want - but that's not the same, as any reader will tell you, as having a copy of the book in your hands as you're reading it.

I'm excited to be getting the books I haven't yet had in my hands.I want to hold them, examine them, ruffle their pages, and sit myself down and READ them.

Yeah I know that might sound weird since I already well know what's all in them, right?

But there's just something about it ...

I'm especially looking forward to seeing for my own self what the LARGE PRINT  set of Mamm Speaks books are like 'in person'. We've not tried this before - it's an experiment that I really hope works out well. And we'll soon know!

I'm also looking forward to reading them 'in person' so to speak. It's different from reading them from a computer screen, believe me. I want to see if that Story Line really does flow along the way I think it does, without the 'rest of the story' framing it.

Why?

Because it is the Soul of the whole series, the 'oldest' part, the foundation of all of the rest of the books that are out and those not even written yet.

Be that as it may be, the orders ought to start showing up in the next week or so.

Hopefully they'll get here when I have days off!

Time to Dance : A Collection of Poetry

Somehow poetry is the hardest of anything to share with others.

There's something about it that's deeply personal - it seems to come from a part of your innards nobody ever really gets to see. And some of my poems I'm not yet courageous enough to share. Not yet.

This is now in the process of coming live on Kindle; tomorrow I'll do the proof approval for the print book and it will become available via Amazon in a day or two.

Meanwhile, this woman is going to get a good night's sleep. Tomorrow while I wait for the final bits on publishing this book, I'll be letting SNARK incubate and getting myself busy with some really fun art projects!

Enough with the words for a little while - even one day will be a blessing!
