ALPHABET TIME

More uses for the foam sheets!  Slice one of them into narrow strips.  Cut some of the strips in half.  Cut at least one oval.  Cut a section out of the side of one oval.  Cut a full length half circle and two half length half circles.  Cut one squiggle (for the Q).

 

 

These pieces make the above letters.  They can make ALL of the letters, in different combinations.  Next on my agenda is to cut more of the various pieces, enough so that Z-Bug can build the whole alphabet!  And THEN even MORE so he can build WORDS.

Next will be words, although he's already building some of them.

Auntie Sissy's Beautiful Hair Ideas

Beaded/elasticized hair binder with combs.

A simple twist stays in place very prettily.

 

 

Twist hair its entire length for this one and double it up.  I LOVE the two-tone effect! 

 

This is the one she decided to go with first.  Just put comb in place on one side, gather hair together, and place the other comb. 

FUN WITH SOCKS !!

 

Auntie Sissy got new socks!  They make us laugh!

 

There were also some bright socks without pictures.  They fit Gramma AND Z-Bug!

 

Sharing socks is very FUN !!

Art and Activity : Creative Play

LET'S PLAY!

 

 



Here's what we need to begin: 

A large blue sheet of foam

A large green foam sheet, cut in half with 'hills' or 'mountains'.

A variety pack of smaller foam sheets.

A pack of foam animal stickers.

Scissors. 

And a kid.



 

 Cut one of the brown foam sheets into small rectangles to use for paths.  A sheet of any of the colors can be cut to make 'houses', 'buildings', 'shelters' - whatever you want.  Clouds are cut from a white foam sheet.  The sun, trees, grass, and of course the animals came in the pack. 

Zachary put some of the animals on the clouds.  He also discovered that the punch-out smiles of the suns were the perfect size and shape to provide bananas for the monkeys!

You can use the stickers without removing the backs if you want to do this as a regular activity.  Even when the backing is removed, the stickers can be un-stuck and used again somewhere else without damage to them or to the foam sheets. 

 Another use for the smaller foam sheets:  hands and feet traced and cut out make great puzzles; any shape can be used, of course

 

 More cutting of the variety pack of foam sheets produced waves, a boat with sails, fish (although I suppose you could find fish packs), and a shore.

 

 

WHAT WILL BECOME OF THEM?

Pheasant feathers, pine cones, a bit of birch ... what will they become?

LOTS of pine cones, some destined to become Christmas ornaments ... the others, who knows?

Puffy wild grasses ... some of the stalks are eight feet or more.

A slice of wood - I see a horse head with arched neck.  The piece is about 16 inches.

One of many shells ... this one is six inches across and five inches high.
